Project of the Month

"Reduce Waste Successfully"

Identify and sustainably avoid unproductive times.

Time Slices

KEY FIGURES

  • Reduced unproductive time from ~30% to 18%.

CURRENT SITUATION

  • Significant disparity between attendance time and productive time on cost centers and work orders.
  • Approximately 30% of time was spent on auxiliary tasks.
  • Significant amount of time was wasted searching, transporting, restacking, inquiring, etc.

APPROACH

  • Identify unproductive time through a time distribution study across all production areas.
  • Identification of areas with high levels of unproductive time.
  • Targeted search for waste based on the 7 types of waste - "waste walk" in teams of two.
  • Evaluate and quantify identified waste.
  • Develop ideas and actions to eliminate waste.
  • Evaluate measures and determine potential savings.
  • Action plan to implement the defined measures.

CUSTOMERS  BENEFITS

  • Significant reduction in unproductive time.
  • Introduction of regular "waste walks" as part of the continuous improvement process (KVP).
  • Sensitization of employees to recognize unproductive processes and workflows in their own environment
  • Fast implementation of measures.
  • Verification of initiated measures through quarterly area-specific time distribution studies.
  • Permanent reduction of non-value added activities.
