Project of the Month

„Quarter-hour monitoring creates

transparency and continuity"

CURRENT SITUATION

· Production situation has changed due to growth

· No performance or capacity measurements are in place

· Production backlogs and late deliveries exist

· Inadequate planning of personnel/shifts

RESULTS

Ability to realize growth:

+ 25 %

Productivity

increase:

+ 15 %

· Quarter-hour monitoring serves as a performance monitor of a work system. It shows three

  pieces of information:

· Number of measurement units (e.g. number of cycles, plates, parts, articles) in

quarter-hour intervals (units / 15 minutes) as a 'bar chart'

· Average measurement units per quarter of an hour that have already been completed

(Ø units / 15 minutes of the current shift) as a 'shadow curve'

· expected output per quarter hour (planned units / 15 minutes) as a 'yardstick'

  (yellow line)

· This visualization in real time provides information about shift and performance progress

· Analysis of shift data using key figures per work system and month creates long-term

  transparency and continuity

· Capacity and performance develop into stable and reliable plan numbers
